On October 30, 2018, Sunderland manager Simon Grayson offered confident words in an attempt to rally his side, but the team's struggles in the Sky Bet Championship continued unabated. Grayson's optimistic remarks proved futile as the Black Cats remained mired in poor form, extending a difficult period for the club.
The match against Bolton Wanderers at the Stadium of Light on October 31, 2017, captured in a photo from that encounter, serves as a reminder of the challenges Grayson faced during his tenure. Despite his public resolve, Sunderland's results did not improve, and the club's downward trajectory persisted.
