MotoGP riders have described the tarmac at the Sepang International Circuit as completely "destroyed," with one competitor comparing the surface to a motocross track ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend.
The criticism comes during practice sessions at the 5.543-kilometer circuit, where riders reported severe degradation of the racing surface. The Sepang track, which has hosted MotoGP since 1999, typically features high temperatures and humidity that accelerate tire wear, but competitors suggest the current asphalt condition exceeds normal expectations.
Race officials and circuit management have not yet issued an official response to the riders' concerns. The Malaysian Grand Prix is scheduled to proceed as planned, with teams adjusting their setups to cope with the challenging track conditions.
