England's all-time leading Test wicket-taker James Anderson has said he is "shocked" by his departure from Lancashire and remains unsure whether he will continue his playing career.
The 42-year-old fast bowler, who has claimed 704 Test dismissals for England, has spent his entire county career with Lancashire since making his debut in 2002.
According to BBC Sport journalist Matthew Henry, Anderson was informed of the club's decision not to extend his contract, leaving the veteran seamer to consider his future in the game.
Anderson's departure marks the end of a long association with the county, and the all-time leading Test wicket-taker for England now faces an uncertain period as he decides whether to pursue playing opportunities elsewhere or retire.
