The Oklahoma City Thunder signed guard Ochai Agbaji to a standard contract on Friday, filling the team's 15th and final roster spot. The 26-year-old was the No. 14 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers after winning an NCAA championship with Kansas. Last season, Agbaji split time between the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets, averaging 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15.7 minutes while shooting 43.6% from the field and 26.6% from three-point range.

Contract details were not disclosed, but the Thunder entered the move $6.9 million below the second apron and are expected to remain under that threshold. Agbaji, a 6-foot-5 wing known for 3-and-D potential, shot a career-best 39.9% from deep on four attempts per game with Toronto in 2024-25.

Injuries hit Thunder

The signing comes as Oklahoma City deals with significant injuries. Jalen Williams underwent successful surgery Wednesday for a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle on his left side and will be re-evaluated before the end of the regular season. Cason Wallace, another key perimeter defender, is awaiting surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, with a return timeline to be determined after the procedure. The Thunder also added wing defender Micah Peavy on a two-way deal on October 23, waiving injured rookie Otega Oweh to create the roster spot.
