Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has urged his old club to trigger a reported £47 million buy option to sign Ronald Araujo permanently from Barcelona.
Johnson, who played for Liverpool between 2009 and 2015, said he would be surprised if the Reds did not want to secure the Uruguayan centre-back on a permanent basis following his impressive performances.
The comments come ahead of Liverpool's Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Chelsea on October 31, 2026.
Araujo, 25, has been a key figure for Barcelona but has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou amid the club's financial constraints.
