Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has backed captain Callum McGregor's assessment of the team's recent struggles, admitting the side have lacked control in matches. After a 2-2 draw with Dundee United, McGregor described periods of play as "a bit basketball" and suggested that deploying natural strikers Callum Osmand and Camilo Duran as wingers was contributing to the problem.
O'Neill initially claimed he was unaware of McGregor's comments but, when presented with the context, said he was in "total agreement." He confirmed both Osmand and Duran are centre-forwards and emphasized that the squad is still gelling after several late arrivals. Despite a run of three wins in nine games and three Europa League defeats, Celtic remain four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and could extend that lead to seven with a victory over Falkirk. O'Neill insisted the group will improve as players gain fitness over the winter and urged patience.
