Big 12 Conference commissioner Brett Yormark is leaving his position to accept a role outside of college sports, the conference announced Friday. Yormark, who recently appeared at Big 12 basketball media days on October 20, will step down from the commissioner's post he has held since 2022.
The move marks a significant leadership change for the Power Four conference. Yormark oversaw the addition of BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF in 2023 and navigated the conference through a shifting collegiate athletics landscape. No immediate successor was named, and details regarding his new role were not disclosed.
