According to Mid-Major Madness Reacts results, the matchup between the Miami (OH) Redhawks and the James Madison Dukes has been voted the best season opener for the upcoming college basketball season.
The poll results were published on October 31, 2026, by Ian Sacks. The Redhawks recently appeared in the First Four round of the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament on March 18, 2026, where guard Evan Ipsaro contributed against the SMU Mustangs at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio.
James Madison, also a mid-major program, will face Miami (OH) in a highly anticipated non-conference game to start the 2026-27 campaign.
