The Chicago Bears face a critical test this week when they travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks, with the primary defensive assignment clear: locate and contain Nick Emmanwori. The Seahawks' No. 3 has emerged as a playmaker in the secondary, and his ability to disrupt passing lanes could dictate the outcome at Lumen Field.
Emmanwori was on display during Seattle's October 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, where he patrolled the defensive backfield at Lumen Field. The Bears' offensive game plan will need to account for his range and ball skills, particularly on third down and in the red zone where the Seahawks have leaned on their secondary to force turnovers.
Chicago's quarterback will have to identify Emmanwori's alignment pre-snap and avoid testing his side of the field unless a clear advantage presents itself. The Bears' receiving corps, meanwhile, must win one-on-one matchups against a Seattle defense that funnels throws toward its playmakers in the back end.
Kickoff is set for Sunday at Lumen Field, where the Seahawks have defended home turf effectively this season. For Chicago, the path to victory runs through the secondary — and specifically through the player wearing No. 3.
