The latest USA Today Coaches Poll released Sunday saw Ohio State plummet eight spots to No. 10 after a 30-18 loss to unranked USC, while Miami remained No. 1 following a 38-35 road win at North Carolina.
Top of the poll
Miami (8-0) retained the top spot with 68 first-place votes and 1,818 points. Georgia (7-1) jumped from third to second after a 27-8 victory over Florida in Atlanta, earning four first-place votes. Indiana (8-1) moved up one place to No. 3 despite offensive struggles in October, averaging 17.8 points over its last four games.
Biggest movers
USC (7-2) surged eight spots to No. 17 after upsetting Ohio State, strengthening its College Football Playoff hopes. Texas Tech (7-1) climbed one spot to No. 13 with a 34-26 win over Arizona. SMU (6-2) tumbled from No. 16 to No. 24 after a loss at Syracuse, likely ending its playoff chances. New Mexico (7-1) entered the poll at No. 25, jumping four spots from the "others receiving votes" category.
Notable results
Minnesota and Indiana made FBS history by each converting a 60-yard field goal in regulation before Indiana won in overtime on a 25-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Grant Wilson to Charlie Becker. Ohio State's defense allowed 30 points, raising concerns despite backup quarterback Luke Fahey seeing action. The Buckeyes (6-2) remain in the playoff race but have switched to survival mode.
