Texas has moved ahead of Ohio State in the latest Associated Press Top 25 college football rankings, though the Longhorns remain behind the Buckeyes in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The dual-poll discrepancy highlights the ongoing debate between media and coaching voters regarding the two programs' relative strength.
The Longhorns' rise in the AP poll comes after their matchup against Ohio State on September 12, 2026, in Austin, where quarterback Arch Manning featured for Texas. Both polls are closely watched as the College Football Playoff selection process approaches, with each ranking carrying weight in the committee's evaluations.
