Florida State University has dismissed head football coach Mike Norvell and defensive coordinator Tony White, according to a report from the FSView & Florida Flambeau. The school has announced an interim head coach to lead the program, though the individual's name was not disclosed in the initial announcement.
The decision comes during the 2026 season. Norvell had served as the Seminoles' head coach since 2020, while White oversaw the defense. The FSView & Florida Flambeau, Florida State's student newspaper, broke the story on November 1, 2026.
No official reason for the dismissals was provided in the initial report. The university has not yet released a statement detailing the search process for a permanent replacement.
