The Oklahoma City Thunder have exercised their team options on guards Jared McCain and Thomas Sorber for the 2026-27 NBA season, while declining the option on Nikola Topic, according to a report from The Oklahoman on Monday.
The moves keep McCain and Sorber under team control for another year as Oklahoma City continues to develop its young core. Both players were selected in the 2024 NBA Draft and saw rotational minutes during their rookie campaigns.
Topic, the Serbian guard drafted 12th overall in 2024, will become a restricted free agent this summer after the Thunder chose not to pick up his third-year option. The decision gives Oklahoma City additional salary-cap flexibility while retaining the right to match any offer sheet Topic signs with another team.
The Thunder's front office has consistently prioritized roster flexibility alongside player development, a strategy that has helped the franchise remain competitive while building through the draft.
