Montreal Canadiens management should consider declining a potential trade for Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, according to analysis from Heavy.com. The proposed deal would reportedly include Minnesota Wild prospect Danila Yurov, the 22-year-old forward selected 24th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft.
The evaluation suggests Montreal would make a smarter strategic move by avoiding the acquisition of Larkin, who carries a significant contract and may not align with the Canadiens' current rebuilding timeline. Yurov, currently developing in the Wild organization, was identified as a key component in the discussed trade package.
Neither the Canadiens nor Red Wings have officially confirmed any trade negotiations involving Larkin, who has served as Detroit's captain since 2021. The 28-year-old center has spent his entire NHL career with the Red Wings since being drafted 15th overall in 2014.
