ESPN reporter Tim MacMahon believes the Dallas Mavericks would face significant difficulty trading guard Kyrie Irving, based on what he has observed of the player's current situation with the team.
"The more I see him, the more I think it's going to be awfully hard to trade him," MacMahon said during a HoopsHype appearance on November 2, 2026. His assessment suggests Irving's role and performance in Dallas have made him a core piece the franchise would be reluctant to move.
Irving, a nine-time All-Star, joined the Mavericks in a February 2023 trade from the Brooklyn Nets and signed a three-year contract extension in July 2023. He has formed a high-profile backcourt pairing with Luka Dončić.
