The University of Oklahoma has reached a decision regarding quarterback John Mateer after the program parted ways with its offensive coordinator. The move comes as the Sooners prepare for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Mateer, who wears number 10, was seen discussing a play with head coach Brent Venables during Oklahoma's 14-6 victory over the New Mexico Lobos at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman on September 19, 2026. The specific nature of the decision on Mateer's role has not been publicly detailed.
