A teenage boy has handed himself in to police after allegedly taunting the memory of Bradley Lowery, the young Sunderland supporter who died in 2017 at the age of six.
The incident, reported by the BBC on November 1, 2026, involves a youth who presented himself at a police station following public outcry over offensive remarks directed at Lowery, whose battle with neuroblastoma captured widespread sympathy across English football.
Lowery, known as a "Black Cats" fan, became a symbol of courage during his illness, with Sunderland and rival clubs paying tribute to him before his death. The taunt sparked condemnation from fans and clubs alike.
Authorities have not released the boy's identity due to his age. The case highlights ongoing concerns about online abuse and hate speech targeting individuals connected to sports.
