Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. has been denied a second consecutive Gold Glove Award, according to analysis published November 4, 2026. The 2026 season saw Witt Jr. deliver standout defensive performances at shortstop, including a notable play on August 30 at Progressive Field where he forced out Cleveland Guardians runner Jo Adell at second before throwing to first. Despite his defensive metrics and highlight-reel plays, the Gold Glove voters selected another shortstop for the honor, prompting criticism that Witt Jr. was robbed of the award for a second time.
