LIV Golf is preparing to cease operations after a last-ditch financing deal fell through, according to reports from Yahoo Sports citing DPA. The Saudi-backed golf league, which has featured high-profile players such as Jon Rahm, Anthony Kim, and Tyrrell Hatton, appears to be nearing its demise after failing to secure necessary funding.
The development comes shortly after the LIV Golf Adelaide tournament at Grange Golf Club, where Rahm's Legion XIII team and Kim's 4Aces GC competed. South Australia's premier had previously indicated the league's demise was edging closer. The shutdown would mark the end of a venture that disrupted professional golf since its launch, offering massive signing bonuses and a team-based format.
