Washington Nationals Reportedly Shopping Shortstop CJ Abrams in Trade Talks
World Sports · 02:39:59 - Sunday, 8 November 2026

The Washington Nationals are reportedly planning to explore trade options for shortstop CJ Abrams, according to recent reports. The 24-year-old infielder has been the subject of trade speculation as the Nationals evaluate their roster construction for the upcoming season.

Abrams, who came to Washington in the 2022 trade that sent Juan Soto to the San Diego Padres, has shown flashes of offensive potential since joining the organization. The left-handed hitter posted a .246 batting average with 18 home runs and 65 RBIs in 153 games during the 2024 season, while also contributing 31 stolen bases.

Multiple clubs could express interest in the young shortstop, who remains under team control through 2028. The Nationals' front office appears to be assessing whether moving Abrams could bring back assets that better align with their competitive timeline.
