Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has interviewed for the head coaching position at North Carolina State University, according to reports.
Wilson, who played for the Steelers during the 2024-2025 season, appeared in the AFC Wild Card playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens on January 11, 2025. The 36-year-old veteran quarterback has expressed interest in transitioning to coaching following his playing career.
NC State is searching for a new head coach after the departure of Dave Doeren. Wilson's NFL experience and leadership qualities make him an intriguing candidate, though he has no prior coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level.
The interview marks Wilson's first known foray into a coaching role. Further details about the search timeline and other candidates have not been disclosed.
