Former NFL quarterback Russell Wilson has interviewed for a college football head coaching position, prompting a wave of negative reactions from fans on social media. The news, reported on November 4, 2026, described the search as the "worst search of all time" by critics.
Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl winner with the Seattle Seahawks, has no prior coaching experience at any level. The interview has raised questions about the direction of the program considering his background solely as a player.
Fan commentary across platforms highlighted skepticism about Wilson's transition from player to head coach without any assistant coaching roles. Many compared the move to other high-profile former athletes who struggled in similar transitions.
