Texas Longhorns tight end Nick Townsend will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering an injury during the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma on October 10.
The injury occurred when Townsend was hit by Oklahoma linebacker Kip Lewis and defensive lineman Adepoju Adebawore at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas. The program confirmed on November 6 that Townsend has been ruled out for the rest of the year.
Townsend had been a key contributor to the Texas offense this season, and his absence creates a significant void at the tight end position as the Longhorns continue their campaign.
