Two standout college football players, Malachi Toney and Jeremiah Smith, have emerged as prominent figures in the 2026 Heisman Trophy debate, according to a report by Dan Rorabaugh of the USA TODAY NETWORK in Florida published on October 29, 2026.
The Heisman Trophy, awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football, has seen its race shift as both athletes have delivered performances that demand national attention. While specific statistics and game highlights were not detailed in the initial report, their inclusion in the conversation signals significant impact on their respective teams this season.
As the regular season progresses, the Heisman race typically narrows around quarterbacks and dynamic playmakers who accumulate eye-catching numbers and lead their teams to victories. Toney and Smith now join that group, with voters and analysts set to evaluate their contributions in the coming weeks.
