The Carolina Panthers have placed cornerback Akayleb Evans on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday. The move sidelines the defensive back for a minimum of four games as he recovers from an undisclosed injury.
Evans, who has contributed to the Panthers' secondary this season, will be eligible to return after missing at least four weeks. The roster move opens a spot on the active roster for Carolina as they prepare for their upcoming matchup.
The Panthers' defense will need to adjust in Evans' absence, with other cornerbacks expected to see increased playing time. Head coach Dave Canales did not specify a timeline for Evans' potential return beyond the mandatory four-game minimum.
