University of Texas at San Antonio men's basketball coach Austin Claunch, 36, was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge after being found passed out in his vehicle outside a convenience store, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Claunch, who had been suspended by the university prior to the incident, was booked into the Nueces County jail. A mugshot released by authorities shows the coach in custody.
The arrest occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Details regarding the circumstances leading to the traffic stop and the coach's blood alcohol level were not immediately disclosed by police.
UTSA officials have not yet commented on the arrest or the status of Claunch's employment with the program. The Roadrunners compete in the American Athletic Conference.
