NFL viewers expressed strong dissatisfaction with broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit's commentary during the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers. Social media reactions highlighted frustration with Herbstreit's analysis, with fans describing his performance as "so insufferable" and stating "(Kirk) Herbstreit is so bad."
The criticism emerged during the Week 8 contest, marking another instance where TNF's broadcast team has drawn negative attention from the league's audience. Herbstreit, who joined Amazon Prime Video's Thursday Night Football coverage as an analyst, has faced periodic scrutiny since transitioning from his longtime role at ESPN's College GameDay.
Fan commentary on social platforms focused on perceived biases, repetitive phrasing, and a perceived lack of insight during key moments of the Panthers-Packers game. The broadcast team also includes play-by-play announcer Al Michaels and reporter Kaylee Hartung.
Amazon has invested heavily in its NFL rights package, making the quality of its broadcast presentation a significant topic among viewers and media critics alike. The company has not publicly responded to the latest wave of criticism regarding Herbstreit's performance.
