Carlos Tevez Claims Move to Manchester City Was 'Revenge' Over Broken Promises by Ferguson

Former Argentina striker Carlos Tevez has described his controversial 2009 transfer from Manchester United to Manchester City as an act of "revenge" after manager Sir Alex Ferguson allegedly broke promises made to him.

Tevez, who spent two seasons on loan at Old Trafford before joining City permanently, said Ferguson had assured him the move would be made permanent but then declined to exercise the purchase option.

The striker's switch across the Manchester divide made him the first player since Peter Schmeichel in 1999 to move directly between the two clubs, intensifying the rivalry.
