Kentucky has claimed the top spot in the College Football Playoff resume rankings for Week 9, according to a new metric that evaluates the totality of a team's schedule using a consensus of power ratings.
The Wildcats' resume is bolstered by road victories over Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Oklahoma — all rated among the top 30 in the CFB Metrics Consensus, which aggregates 10 different power ratings. Kentucky's only loss came against No. 6 Alabama, while its win over No. 5 LSU added significant value.
Texas, despite two losses, sits at No. 5 thanks to a neutral-site win over No. 1 Ohio State and a road win at No. 11 Tennessee, plus a victory over No. 9 Ole Miss. The Longhorns' losses came to Oklahoma and Florida.
The rankings use a formula inspired by the NCAA's Wins Above Bubble metric, measuring the likelihood that an average No. 25 team would win each game. Road wins carry more weight than home wins, and upsets of top-five opponents on the road yield the highest scores.
Other notable teams in the top 10 include UCLA at No. 2, Indiana at No. 3, Alabama at No. 4, Miami at No. 6, Ohio State at No. 7, Ole Miss at No. 8, BYU at No. 9, and Utah at No. 10.
