Rangers faced criticism following a pre-season friendly against Middlesbrough at Ibrox Park on July 26, 2025. Reports indicate that a Rangers player delivered an "atrocious" performance, prompting calls for manager Derek McInnes to drop the unnamed star from the lineup. The match, played in Glasgow, Scotland, has intensified scrutiny on the player's form ahead of the new season.
The criticism comes from a LastWordOnSports report by Ricky Carroll, with editor Gavin Kelly, published on October 30, 2026. The article highlights growing pressure on McInnes to make changes to the starting XI.
