World number one Alexander Zverev secured a commanding 6-0, 6-2 victory over Britain's Arthur Fery in just 58 minutes to advance to the Vienna Open semifinals on Friday.

The German top seed, who recently won the French Open and US Open, dropped only six points on serve and converted five of nine break points against the 24-year-old qualifier. Fery, who had upset Lorenzo Musetti in the previous round, received treatment on his leg during that match and appeared hindered throughout the contest.

"I think Arthur is a bit of a different opponent than I had yesterday. He doesn't have the same firepower, but he plays tactically extremely well," Zverev said. "I know the score was 6-0 6-2, but he should not put himself down too much. It is his first year on the Tour and he is doing amazing things."

Zverev will face either Australian fifth seed Alex de Minaur or Italy's Matteo Berrettini in the last four. In the other semifinal, Spanish second seed Carlos Alcaraz will meet Russian third seed Daniil Medvedev after Alcaraz defeated Tommy Paul 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) and Medvedev overcame Adrian Mannarino 6-2, 6-3.

Medvedev's win also secured his place in the season-ending ATP Finals, joining Zverev, Alcaraz, and Ben Shelton as qualifiers.

Meanwhile, at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, world number one Elena Rybakina withdrew from her quarterfinal against Leylah Fernandez due to a neck injury, one day after clinching the year-end women's singles top ranking. Fernandez will face Russia's Kamilla Rakhimova in the semifinals.
