The Miami Heat are reworking the Dwyane Wade statue outside Kaseya Center following widespread criticism of its likeness. The bronze sculpture, unveiled earlier this season to honor the franchise's all-time leading scorer and three-time NBA champion, drew jokes and negative comparisons on social media and from fans who felt it did not resemble the Hall of Fame guard.
Team officials acknowledged the feedback and confirmed a makeover is underway to better capture Wade's features. The original statue was created by a noted sports sculptor and installed as part of the Heat's tribute to Wade, whose No. 3 jersey was retired in 2020. No timeline for the revised statue's debut has been announced.
