The Houston Rockets dropped their first game of the 2026-27 NBA season on Friday night, falling to the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center. The loss ended Houston's unbeaten start to the campaign.
Dallas guard Kyrie Irving and Houston guard-forward Amen Thompson were among the key players on the floor during the October 30 matchup. A postgame assessment summed up the Rockets' performance: "We didn't make it tough on them."
The defeat marks the first setback for Houston after opening the season with a winning streak. Dallas secured the victory on their home court in front of the American Airlines Center crowd.
