Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has criticized the Southeastern Conference's move to a nine-game conference schedule, arguing that the additional game will result in eight more losses for the league overall. Sarkisian made the remarks on September 12, 2026, in Austin, Texas, ahead of the Longhorns' game against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
The SEC's expansion to a nine-game slate has been a topic of debate among coaches, with Sarkisian suggesting the increased intra-conference competition could hurt the conference's collective record and postseason positioning.
