The Houston Astros have appointed a former Texas Rangers player as their new general manager, according to a report from Yahoo Sports on Saturday. The move brings a familiar face from the Rangers' past into the Astros' front office leadership.
The hiring was announced on October 31, 2026. While the report featured a photograph of Randy Flores, who wore number 50 for the Rangers and pitched against the Kansas City Royals at The Ballpark in Arlington on June 2, 2002, the article did not explicitly confirm the identity of the new general manager beyond describing him as a former Ranger.
The Astros' decision to hire from within the American League West division marks a notable front office shift for the organization as they look ahead to future seasons.
