The Miami Heat have revealed a redesigned statue of franchise legend Dwyane Wade after the original sculpture faced widespread mockery for its lack of resemblance to the Hall of Fame guard. The team shared photos of the updated version on social media, showing a more recognizable likeness of the three-time NBA champion.
The original statue, unveiled earlier, drew immediate criticism from fans and media for its facial features, which many felt bore little resemblance to Wade. The Heat organization responded by commissioning a replacement that better captures the 13-time All-Star's distinctive appearance.
Wade, who spent 16 seasons with Miami and led the franchise to three championships, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023. The new statue is intended to serve as a lasting tribute to his legacy with the organization.
