The Nashville Predators presented Washington Capitals legend Alex Ovechkin with a custom Gibson guitar to commemorate his retirement from the NHL. The gesture took place during a ceremony recognizing Ovechkin's historic career, which included 894 regular-season goals — the most in league history — and a Stanley Cup championship in 2018.
Ovechkin, 41, announced his retirement earlier this month after 19 seasons with the Capitals. The Russian forward ranks first all-time in goals, third in points (1,550), and won the Hart Trophy as league MVP three times. The custom guitar features Capitals colors and Ovechkin's number 8, reflecting his connection to Nashville's music heritage.
Predators ownership and front office members participated in the presentation at Bridgestone Arena. Ovechkin expressed gratitude for the unique tribute, noting his appreciation for country music and the city's cultural scene during his many visits as a visiting player.
