Former Manchester United and Roma defender Chris Smalling sustained a significant injury during his first appearance for FC Porto on October 31, 2026. The English centre-back, who joined the Portuguese club recently, was forced off early in what marked his competitive debut for the team.
Details regarding the exact nature and severity of the injury have not been disclosed, but early reports describe it as a bad setback for both the player and his new club. Smalling, 36, arrived at Porto with extensive experience in the Premier League and Serie A, having made over 300 appearances for Manchester United and winning the Europa League with Roma in 2021.
