The FIA has issued a clear warning to Formula 1 drivers ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix: any competitor who gains an advantage by leaving the track on the opening lap and retains that position will face penalties.
The governing body clarified its stance on track limits for the first lap of the race, emphasizing that drivers must relinquish any positions gained by running off the circuit. Failure to do so will result in sanctions from the stewards.
The directive aims to prevent drivers from exploiting the first-lap chaos to gain an unfair advantage, ensuring fair competition from the start.
