Marc Marquez won the Malaysian Grand Prix, extending his lead in the MotoGP championship to 44 points over Jorge Martin, who missed the race due to a fractured wrist.
It was Marquez's first victory in Malaysia since 2018. He won by over four seconds, moving his season total to 399 points. His brother Alex Marquez finished third behind Pedro Acosta.
Marquez, a seven-time MotoGP champion, can clinch the title with two rounds remaining if he increases his lead to 74 points at the Qatar Grand Prix next week. "We did a perfect race, so I'm super, super happy," Marquez said. "But my mentality still cannot change. I have to keep focus, keep pushing."
Martin, the 2024 champion, attempted to ride in morning practice but withdrew due to the wrist injury sustained in a crash at the Australian Grand Prix last week.
