Former NFL coach Wade Phillips has detailed why Peyton Manning was ineffective as a scout team quarterback during practice sessions. Phillips, who has held defensive coordinator and head coaching roles across the league, shared his assessment on Friday, October 30, 2026.
According to Phillips, Manning's approach to the scout team role did not align with the needs of the defense, making it difficult for defensive units to prepare adequately for opposing offenses.
