Detroit Lions defensive back Brian Branch and linebacker DJ Wonnum have been ruled out after sustaining concussions in a nasty collision, according to a report from the Detroit Free Press.
The incident occurred during recent team activities, leaving both players in the NFL's concussion protocol. Branch, a second-year safety, and Wonnum, a veteran edge rusher acquired in the offseason, will miss upcoming practice time and potentially game action as they progress through the league's return-to-play procedures.
The Lions' medical staff is monitoring both players closely. No timetable has been announced for their return to full participation.
