New Texas Longhorns head coach Sean Miller has assembled a younger, deeper roster that appears hungry for a deep NCAA tournament run. The Longhorns opened their season with a game against the Chicago State Cougars at the Moody Center in Austin on November 2, 2026.
Forward Marcus Spears Jr., wearing number 31, was among the players taking the court for the revamped squad. Miller, who previously coached at Arizona and Xavier, brings extensive tournament experience to a program seeking to return to national prominence.
The season opener marked the first glimpse of Miller's new-look Longhorns, with the team looking to establish an identity built on depth and youthful energy as they navigate a challenging schedule ahead.
