A recent SB Nation article by Patrick Holloway highlights defensive tackle DeForest Buckner as part of a growing list of former San Francisco 49ers players who have maintained positive relationships with the organization after departing. The piece references Buckner's appearance in Super Bowl LIV on February 2, 2020, where the 49ers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 31-20 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Buckner, wearing number 99, was photographed on the sideline before the game. The article suggests the 49ers organization has a pattern of not burning bridges with former players, though specific details about Buckner's current connection to the team were not provided in the available text.
