The New York Giants, sitting atop the NFC East with a 4-2-1 record heading into Week 9, are actively exploring trade options before the November 10 deadline. While the team has been linked to a move for running back Jonathan Taylor, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday that defensive tackle may be the position they prioritize after inquiring multiple times about Jeffery Simmons before he was dealt to the Chicago Bears.
Six Potential Targets for New York's Interior Line
With the Indianapolis Colts in sell mode, 10-year veteran Grover Stewart could be available for a Day 3 draft pick. The reliable run-stopper is in the final year of his contract.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman A'Shawn Robinson, 31, has also been floated as a low-cost veteran addition who remains productive in the interior.
Philadelphia Eagles' Moro Ojomo, 25 and in the final year of his rookie deal, posted six sacks last season and could be moved as Philadelphia's season struggles.
New England Patriots' Christian Barmore, 27, earned a four-year, $84 million extension after an 8.5-sack 2023 campaign, but the $46 million owed over the next two seasons presents a significant hurdle.
Fowler also noted Vita Vea, Tampa Bay's two-time Pro Bowler, is on the Giants' radar. Vea is owed over $30 million next season, though a deal could potentially involve edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux to make the finances work.
A more ambitious target would be Eagles' two-time Pro Bowler Jalen Carter. Philadelphia may consider moving him due to long-term salary-cap constraints alongside Jordan Davis, but any deal would be very expensive.
