Mike James, the founding chairman of the Ospreys rugby team, has been named president of the Welsh region in recognition of nearly six decades of service to rugby in Swansea.
James has been a central figure in the development of professional rugby in the area since the Ospreys were formed in 2003 through the merger of Neath and Swansea RFCs. His involvement in the sport locally stretches back to the 1960s, spanning roles as a player, administrator, and leader.
The appointment honors a lifetime contribution that helped establish the Ospreys as one of Wales' four professional regional sides, with the team going on to win multiple league titles and establish a strong European presence.
