Top-ranked Florida Gators men's basketball team returned to Tampa this week carrying emotions from a stunning NCAA tournament loss that remain "still deep in our hearts," according to program insiders. The Gators, under head coach Todd Golden, played an exhibition game at the Steven C. O'Connell Center Exactek Arena in Gainesville on October 27, 2026, winning 68-85.
Golden was seen reacting intensely during the second half of the exhibition contest. The team's return to the Tampa area evokes memories of their unexpected NCAA tournament exit, which continues to resonate within the program. Associated Press reported on October 31, 2026 that the feelings from that stunner persist as Florida begins its new campaign as the nation's number one ranked team.
