Major League Baseball teams have made qualifying offers exceeding $23 million to eight players ahead of the 2026 offseason, according to reports. The one-year offers, which serve as a mechanism for teams to receive draft compensation if the player signs elsewhere, were extended to a group of notable free agents.
Among the recipients is Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena, for whom rejecting the qualifying offer is considered a straightforward decision given his market value. The qualifying offer system allows players to accept the one-year deal or test free agency while their former team retains the right to a compensatory draft pick.
