Second-ranked St. Joseph High School's football team is preparing for a marquee matchup against third-ranked New Canaan, with the Cadets' defense anchored by a group known as the "Core Four." The unit has powered St. Joseph through the season, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown in Connecticut high school football.
In their most recent outing, St. Joseph showcased their defensive and special-teams prowess when Kyle Wicker returned a blocked punt for a touchdown against Fairfield Ludlowe on November 8, 2025. Teammate Will Zaccagnino celebrated the score by hoisting Wicker into the air, a moment captured at St. Joseph High School in Trumbull.
With both programs ranked in the state's top three, the upcoming game promises to be a pivotal contest in the championship race.
