Utah Mammoth forward Logan Cooley scored a record-breaking hat trick against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, November 5, 2026, fueling renewed discussion about the 2022 NHL Draft order. Cooley, selected third overall in that draft, celebrated his third goal with teammate Clayton Keller as the Mammoth faced the Canadiens in Montreal.
The performance has intensified debate among analysts and fans over which player should have been taken first overall in 2022. Cooley's continued production adds weight to arguments that his draft position may have underestimated his impact.
